Sakina Khan's journey to becoming an expert in dyslexia intervention and structured word inquiry coaching started with her own curiosity and passion for helping struggling students. After completing her Master's degree, she enrolled in the "AMI" Montessori teacher's training program, where she discovered a passion for finding new ways to help students overcome their learning difficulties. Her experience as a Montessori teacher and school founder allowed her to witness firsthand how students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties could thrive with the right guidance and support. Sakina's dedication to helping students reach their full potential led her to train as an Orton-Gillingham Dyslexia Interventionist and a Structured Word Inquiry Coach, equipping her with the knowledge and tools to help struggling students master their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
Sakina Khan's training in Orton-Gillingham therapeutic techniques at the Associate level, specifically designed for individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia), has reinforced her unwavering belief in the effectiveness of this approach. Structured Word Inquiry, one of Sakina's passions, not only helps students improve their reading, spelling, and compression but also helps them understand how the English writing system works. It encourages them to become curious about the language and discover that spelling makes sense. With SWI, students learn that the spelling system is logical and well-ordered and can be investigated and understood through scientific inquiry. By incorporating SWI into her teaching methods, Sakina equips her students with the tools they need to thrive academically and beyond, inspiring them to become lifelong learners.
